Helping mums and dads raise happy children!
The pressures of work, plus other modern frustrations, can make it difficult to cope sometimes.
Here at BAAM we’re completely non-judgemental about any issues you might be facing as a result.
Our course Better Parenting aims to empower whole families. So you can create fulfilled, secure lives for yourselves and the children you look after.
This course presents BAAM’s acclaimed anger management programme specifically in the context of child-raising.
Plus Understanding Anger for Parents is also suitable for guardians, teachers, learning mentors, psychologists and anybody else who communicates with kids.
Better Parenting is coached by BAAM’s Ronnie Turner, a fully-accredited anger management coach and experienced group facilitator. Ronnie’s a mum herself and applies BAAM’s techniques to her own parenting. And Ronnie will coach alongside BAAM co-founder Mike Fisher, so the ‘Anger Guru’ will still contribute to the coaching.
BAAM’s team have worked with families for over 20 years and can call on a rich experience of helping them solve any communication issues.
For more information on anger management, take a look at our What is Anger Management? page.
The material is delivered in a ‘coaching’ style so you’re encouraged to think about your parenting approach, and begin making conclusions about your own situation.
This is slightly different to ‘teaching’ where you’re just told what to do or think.
Anger management is not ‘psychotherapy’, where you are asked to examine your past to consider explanations for your state of mind. The course does include regular and modern psychology that might help you understand yourself a bit better, though.
You will be invited to contribute to the class. This may feel uncomfortable at first, but can be very rewarding.
Group therapy might seem daunting.
But angry people are just normal people, like you.
Being part of a group facing the same challenges will help you feel that you’re not alone.
You’ll learn a lot from their own experiences, and enjoy their support during the process.
95% of people who come to us have no prior experience of counselling or therapy, and we’ve tailored the material accordingly.
There’s no navel-gazing or wallowing – instead, a results-focussed approach to get you feeling happier, lighter, and more at ease straight away.
On 23rd March 2022 the Welsh government made the physical punishment of children equivalent to assault. This is similar to a law already in place in Scotland. There is currently no equivalent in England, but 63 other countries currently ban smacking including Germany, Spain, Israel, South Korea, South Africa and Argentina. So a smacking ban in England could be considered inevitable.
Smacking – and many non-physical punishments like shaming or withholding affection – contribute to a child’s level of ACEs, ‘adverse childhood experiences’. ACEs contribute to the likelihood of serious physical illness, destructive behaviour patterns, and mental health conditions such as depression. Recent studies from both University College London and Liverpool John Moores University clearly support the prevalence of ACEs.
Punishments that cause ACEs often involve frustration expressed aggressively, in a way that breaks down trust between children and their caregivers. Anger for Parents teaches how to avoid the situations happening, building cooperation and trust instead.

Anger is an emotion related to one’s psychological interpretation of having been offended, wronged, or denied and a tendency to react through retaliation. Mike Fisher describes anger as a normal emotion that involves a strong uncomfortable and emotional response to a perceived provocation.
Stress is the feeling of being under too much mental or emotional pressure. Pressure turns into stress when you feel unable to cope. People have different ways of reacting to stress, so a situation that feels stressful to one person may be motivating to someone else. Many of life’s demands can cause stress, particularly work, relationships and money problems.
